By all accounts another striker is a possibility... A no 9.

Whittaker is a deal that came up and due to his age and potential couldn't turn down. Deal is nowhere near 700k starting, rumoured to only be costing Swansea 150k to start with.

I was thinking this yesterday, can't see it being a straight up 700K fee, there will be add ons based on appearances, promotion etc which will reach 700K.

The thing is with Cullen out then we don't even have a no 9 in the squad at present.

Ayew, Lowe, Morris and Whittaker are all Wingers who can play no 9.......Cooper said that he wants a no 9 and it looks like the club are working on it for him.

Any thoughts on who it is?

bit of left field, but i would take Jukwiteisz (not spelling that) at Birmingham

Player to be sent back to Swansea City today – Difficult situation ahead

Source: Sport Witness

Joel Asoro signed for Swansea City from Sunderland in 2018, but was unable to really impose himself at the Welsh club.

A loan move in 2019 saw the Swedish forward go to FC Groningen, where he had mixed success. That wasn’t made permanent and he then signed on loan for Genoa in 2020.

That move came with a buying clause, which was stated as an obligation for the Italian side. However, it was still linked to Asoro meeting certain targets, and that hasn’t happened.

Indeed, since arriving in Genoa last September, the 21-year-old hasn’t made a single appearance. The only time he even got on the bench was against Hellas Verona in October and he’s been left out of every match-day squad since then.

TMW report he’s being sent back to Swansea City today, and now he faces the difficult situation of what happens next.

Earlier this month, Steve Cooper made it clear that if Asoro was to return then he wouldn’t be part of the first team squad. The player has a contract lasting until June 2022.

They could send Astra up to Newport to play for them, as it sounds like he’s not Championship standard. He’s got a contract til 2022 I think.

What a disastrous signing that turned out to be. £2m was a pretty significant outlay after relegation. Obviously the hope was that he was a rough diamond we could polish, but turned out to be more like cubic zirconia.

I know it was only against Trinidad but Ariolla scored 2 of the goals in a 7 nil win for the USA!

Ferreira, Ariola, Lewis 2 goals each, USA defeat Trinidad 7-0

Source: Florida News Times

Orlando, Florida. – Jesus Ferreira scored the first two international goals and won three assists. Paul Arriola and Jonathan Lewis defeated the rusty Trinidad and Tobago 7-0 at the Sunday night exhibition.

Like Miles Robinson, Lewis scored his first international goal.

The United States, which defeated top American player El Salvador 6-0 in November and defeated Panama 6-2, mainly in the Major League Soccer group, beat the Soca Warriors 19-2, scoring five goals in three games. I mentioned it. The first straight game. After the Cayman Islands lost 8 to 1 in a friendly match in 1993, led by Joe Max Moore, Dominic Kinnear, and Mark Chan, the three Americans each didn’t score two goals.

Ferreira, a 20-year-old David midfielder, was the son of former Colombian midfielder David Ferreira, who acquired US citizenship in December 2019 and made his US debut in February last year. He had a goal and three firsts in the first half alone.

Ariola, who made their first start since breaking the right ACL on February 15, last month, was 2 as the United States led in a 4-0 half-time and scored three goals in the last two international matches. I gave a score.

Goalkeeper Matt Turner and right-back Aaron Elera have begun their debut in the United States as the United States re-enters without a European-based player. 20-year-old midfielder Andres Perea made his debut early in the second half, admitting a penalty kick. Turner, who fired high boots at Ryan Telfer in the 65th minute, jumped to the right and stopped Alvin Jones’ penalty kick.

Perea, who plays in Orlando, started for Colombia at the 2017 Under 17 World Cup. This included a 3-1 group stage victory over the United States, and all five Colombian matches at the 2019 Under 20 World Cup began.

Since George Bello, Daryl Dike and Tanner Tessman made their debut in the second half and the defeat in Trinidad in October 2017 prevented Americans from reaching the 2018 World Cup, 63 Americans have made their debut. increased. Gregg Berhalter coaches ahead of 2019.

The 22nd-placed American, who had only four games last year, the least since 1987, is expected to be much busier in 2011. Two friendly matches are likely to take place in Europe, with players under the age of 24 competing in Guadalajara, Mexico to qualify. Americans will be competing in the first Olympic Games since 2008. The United States will face Honduras in the first CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals in June, with winners playing in Mexico or Costa Rica. Americans will travel to Trinidad in early September to begin World Cup qualifying. Delayed by a new coronavirus pandemic. The beginning of eight qualifying compressed stretches in 11 weeks.

Lewis pushed the United States 1:40 ahead when Sam Vines dropped the ball to the left and rushed to Ferreira, who defeated goalkeeper Adrian Foncette. Ferreira scored an open net with his right foot from near the penalty spot, centered on Lewis.

Ferreira doubled the lead in the 9th minute with a left foot volley from 6 yards after the Vines dribbled back to the end line.

Ariola scored with a 12-yard right-footed shot after the United States dribbled a goal following a Fonsette goal kick on the 22nd, and after Ferreira picked up poor head clearance, 41 with his left foot from just outside the Pena area. I decided another shot on the day.Attempt by Federico Pena

Robinson made his first international start, scoring 5-0 with a sprint header from a headpass from centerback partner Aaron Long Lewis and scoring a second goal with an 18-yard right foot shot on the 55th. Ferreira scored again On the 62nd, he shot with his right foot from near the penalty spot on the Ariola Pass.

No. 103 Trinidad played for the first time under England’s 1986 World Cup team defender Terry Fenwick. The Soca Warriors haven’t played since losing to Honduras 4-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League on November 17, 2019. They held a World Cup qualifier against Guyana on March 24th and are supported by first-round groups including the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Current Latest News on some of the January links to date

JOEL RANDALL - EXETER CITY

Still a potential target for the Swans but Exeter manager Matt Taylor says that the winger is unlikely to move in this window. The Grecians are reported as holding out for a seven figure sum for their star man.

“Joel is still our player and I expect him to be our player at the end of the window,” Taylor said.

“There has been interest but we have a certain valuation for Joel and one that reflects what we has done this season and what he will do in the future as we know he will be a top, top, player but I expect him to be our player unless something very worthwhile comes in.

“Unless someone comes in with an offer we take seriously or is a significant offer, then we expect him to be our player. How long we can keep him within our ranks will depend on what happens this season and how the season ends, as we expect him to be a high calibre player and if he does leave us, it will be for a significant amount of money.”

KEINAN DAVIS - ASTON VILLA

Reports have suggested that the Swans are in the same line as Stoke and Bristol City to sign the striker but Robins boss Dean Holden said at the weekend “Keinan Davis won’t be leaving Aston Villa in this transfer window. He’s obviously a very good player and he played against us in that Carabao Cup at the start of the season and did some damage to us from what I remember, but he won’t be coming down from Villa.”

Davis' though clearly doesn't feature in the plans of Aston Villa at the moment so there could be movement on deadline day and some suggestions have been made that Stoke is the most likely destination.

MORGAN WHITTAKER - DERBY

The Swans should get this move completed today after the weekend reports confirmed a fee had been agreed. Personal terms and a medical just needed but no problems are anticipated as we add another player to the squad.

PAUL ARRIOLA - DC UNITED

Ariola scored twice for the USA in a 7-0 win over Trinidad last night and it is still reported that he could complete a loan move to the Swans. The player himself has suggested that this is to be the case although he also suggested that a deal could be some way off "A lot of it is out of my control. All I can focus on is playing on the field and leave it up to my agent and leave it to the clubs to try and figure that out.

"I'm just trying to stay focused on what I can control, and what I can control is how I sleep tonight, how I respond to questions and focusing on the game."

KASPER JUNKER - BODO-GLIMT

The Swans are one of a host of clubs being linked with this prolific striker who has just helped his side to the Norweigan League title. Not sure how much legs this one has given some of the interest is from the Premier League (West Brom and Crystal Palace) and how much of it is just press speculation but Cooper is rumoured to want an out and out striker in his squad so could there be a move to be done?

Comedy rumour of the day

No-one should be signing children up anyway, and getting a work permit for a player may be another bit of bureaucracy but it's not the end of the world. I'm still curious if people who voted for Brexit, because they were told there would be less paperwork, are feeling like idiots right now.

"Football transfers are not the same. There are many hidden consequences from Brexit even in the world of sport. If a football team in England now wants to sign a player from a team in the EU they will first have to obtain a work permit. In addition, signing a player under the age of 18 is now strictly off-limits."
