'Love this guy' - Ex-Aston Villa star sends Conor Hourihane message as Swansea City medical booked

Conor Hourihane will undergo a medical today ahead of his proposed loan move from Swansea City to Aston Villa.

The Republic of Ireland international is set to join the Swans on a temporary basis until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

And it's understood he will be put through his paces in a medical at the Swans' Fairwood training complex on Wednesday.

The deal is expected to be officially announced well before Saturday's FA Cup fourth round clash with Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

And given that Hourihane did not feature for the Villans in their third round defeat to Liverpool, the 29-year-old will be eligible to feature for Steve Cooper's side at the weekend.

Ahead of the move, former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor sent his best wishes to Hourihane on social media.

Writing on his official Instagram account, the ex-forward turned pundit said: "Love this guy always hungry to play football... Good luck at Swansea bro and look forward to seeing you back at Villa next season."

And Hourihane responded: "Thanks brother."

Swansea are also hoping to complete the loan signing of Jordan Morris from Seattle Sounders this week.

The USA international is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom ahead of a medical, with Morris due to spend the rest of the season in south Wales.

The Swans will have the option to make the attacker's move permanent in the summer.

Could be the cover for Connor

7 caps but it’ll be interesting to see if he gains a work permit

*edit* https://twitter.com/danielsmith1022/status/1351875289568190466?s=21 seems to have enough recent caps

Link is there with DC United and the owners. 14 goals in in 80 odd appearances isn’t shabby

34 caps according to wikipedia like

if there is truth to this, it does sound like right wing back cover ....

assuming we don;t lose anybody else, this has been a really good window .... when was the last time we said that....

edit : actually the last one was pretty good too?

Other than cover for Roberts (unless he's on the way out) I can't see why we are taking this player (if we are)

SWANSEA CITY COMPLETE LOAN DEAL FOR CONOR HOURIHANE

Source: Swansea Official Site

Swansea City has completed the signing of Conor Hourihane on loan from Aston Villa for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder – who will wear the number 14 shirt - links up with Steve Cooper’s squad ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest, which he will be available for.

The 29-year-old has made 150 appearances for Villa since joining in January 2017, scoring 29 goals and helping them secure a return to the Premier League in 2019.

Hourihane, who is a set-piece threat with his left foot, previously played for Barnsley and Plymouth, having also had spells on the books at Ipswich and Sunderland.

He bolsters head coach Cooper’s midfield options after Kasey Palmer and Morgan Gibbs-White were recalled from their loan spells earlier this month.

He has won 24 caps for his country, scoring one goal.

Villa manager Dean Smith

Conor is never happy when he’s not playing and we have respected his desire to go on loan to Swansea to play football games and to help them in their push for promotion.

“It’s a loan until the end of the season which gets him back in the heart of a promotion chase and playing regular football.
