It’s not Bony, but it could be Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. Very close to some of our key staff by some accounts, who are impressed by his attitude since his ‘Cardiff incident’. There’s a player there, pace, mobile, plays wide and down the middle.... fits our remit? Just maybe Cooper and Scott feel it’s a safe punt for us.

STEVE COOPER HOPEFUL OVER THIRD JANUARY SIGNING

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper is hopeful Swansea City will seal the loan signing of forward Jordan Morris from Seattle Sounders, after revealing the deal is in the process of being completed.

The Swansea head coach was at pains to point out that he remained cautious until any move is formally ratified and confirmed, but believes the addition of the United States international would be a good one for his squad.

Should a move go through, Morris will follow goalkeeper Ben Hamer and Conor Hourihane through the arrivals’ door at the Liberty Stadium.

“It is not quite done yet but it is in the process of getting done,” said Cooper.

“It has taken a little longer than we would have liked down to logistics, but it is one that, should it get done, we will be really pleased.

“I am still a bit cautious, as until a player signs and you get them out training and playing then it is not done and dusted.

“But it will be a good one if we can get it done.”

And Cooper revealed the Swans are still looking to complete further business during the January transfer window, provided any move is the right one for the club.

“You can always want more because no team is ever the finished article,” added Cooper.

“Whatever happens, we will happily crack on with our work here as we have a great group here.

“If there are players who we think fit what we are doing and can help us, we will look to do those things.

“We lost three earlier in the window, so we had to get the numbers up given the number of games coming up, there was a necessity to do that.

“So, to have two certainly here and hopefully three is great.

“We are still actively looking, nothing is close, but things are still possible.”

Jordan Morris in Wales to complete physical

Source: Sounder At Heart

Jordan Morris’ loan to Swansea City appears to be all but complete. The deal is close enough to being finalized that Swansea City manager Steve Cooper told local media that Morris is already in Wales and is scheduled to complete his physical on Friday.

“It’s taking a little longer than we’d have liked, basically down to logistics more than anything else, but it’s one that when it finally gets done we’ll be really pleased,” Cooper said. “A little bit cautious at the moment because as you know, until they sign and you get them out training and playing, it’s never quite done, but it’s close to being done and it’ll be a good one when it is.”

While it might be cutting it a little too close for Morris to be ready in time for Swansea City’s FA Cup match on Saturday, all of this bodes well for the Seattle native having plenty of opportunity to settle in. Swansea still have 22 matches remaining in their Championship campaign and are in strong position to gain promotion.

As things currently stand, Swansea is in the second of two automatic promotion spots, two points clear of third place and seven points behind first-place Norwich City. If Swansea finish anywhere from 3-6, they’d need to compete in a playoff for the final promotion spot.

Sounds like there’s more to come after Morris... he wouldn’t say so if there wasn’t more in the pipeline.

Aye, he would probably say that hes happy with the business we have done.

Derby and Swansea target Samuel Grandsir reportedly available for loan after rejecting MLS move

Source: Derby News

According to RMC Sport, reported Derby County and Swansea City target Samuel Grandsir has turned down a move to Kansas City as he seeks to remain in Europe.

The 24-year-old attacker has yet to feature for AS Monaco this season.

Monaco boss Niko Kovac was tasked with trimming his first-team squad containing over 40 players last summer and Grandsir was among those tipped to leave.

According to Sky Sports and Wales Online, Derby and Swansea were keen on him, but the Championship duo weren’t willing to pay his £2.3 million asking price.

A deal for Grandsir ultimately never materialised with the Frenchman remaining at Monaco.

Now, RMC Sport claim the Principality club are open to loaning him out after Grandsir rejected the chance to move to the United States with Sporting Kansas City.

It is said Grandsir wants to remain in Europe while his contact at Monaco expires in 2023.

Swansea are gunning for automatic promotion from the Championship this season, and Grandsir could be a decent option for the Swans going forwards.

Steve Cooper’s side strengthened this week with the arrival of Connor Hourihane.

But Derby arguably need a player of Grandsir’s ilk more.

The former France U21 international can operate out wide or through the middle.

The Rams are the joint-lowest scorers in the Championship with 15 goals. A new striker and added creativity would provide a big boost for Wayne Rooney’s side.

Grandsir has plenty of pace and power. Breaking in at Monaco has been tough, but the ability is there and a loan move away from the club could be the opportunity he needs.

Arsenal have just signed Mat Ryan from Brighton so we can put the Woodman rumour to bed.

Thank feck for that. Perhaps it was only ever a rumour, but it would be great to hear in the future that Woodman chose to stay here for the rest of the season.

As for Morris, I doubt he'll even be in the squad tomorrow as he can't have trained with the team, but it would be great to see a 10/15 minute cameo off the bench.

The Woodman rumour probably gathered attention because his dad works with Arsenals U23s.

Apparently Morris was in Swansea yesterday, but yeah think tomorrow is going to be out of reach, first game against Brentford score the winner, what a way to mark your debut.

Exclusive: West Brom, Swansea & Norwich race to sign Luton Town 26-yr-old

Source: Football Insider

West Brom, Swansea City and Norwich City are in the hunt to sign Luton Town midfielder Pelly Ruddock this month, Football Insider can reveal.

He is in the final six months of his contract and Luton may be forced to cash in rather than lose him on a free.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider West Brom, Swansea and Norwich are all keen to sign a proven defensive midfielder.

The 26-year-old has missed just two Championship games this season and has played 67 times in the division across the last two seasons.

A graduate of the West Ham academy, Ruddock moved to Luton in 2013, initially on loan, and has played a key role in their rise up the divisions.

The London-born ace has represented the Hatters in the Conference Premier, League Two, League One and the Championship.

He has played 273 times across all competitions for Luton in his six years at Kenilworth Road.

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce has been open about the need for him to bring in signings this month to help their chances of Premier League survival.

Swansea are pushing for promotion to the top flight and have already bolstered their midfield ranks with the loan signing of Conor Hourihane, as first revealed by this site.
