There was an interesting read in yesterday’s Guardian about the election in Georgia, it seems that the state has been removing voters from the electoral roll a disproportionate number of whom have been black and potentially democrat supporters. The lady in the article has mobilised volunteers to register black voters, encouraged people to vote and the result is a swing to the Democrats. I’d suggest the Republican Senators anger is because the swing to the Democrats has put their positions on the line.

One million voters purged from the electoral roll, 670,000 in 2017 before the last elections. Mmmm!

Not quite true. The Telegraph had to pay £150k in libel (which is near the top of the scale in this area). £2m was legal costs after a failed appeal, so not actually 'millions in libel'. Your overall point stands though and I imagine the Dr was being sarcastic.
