Just Stop Oil

Why are you pointing at other countries, point at this one first.

Of course companies will look to make money from it, that is how the world has always, and will always work. It's not a reason to down tools though. Can't comment on how the company you work for is run, you need to speak to them about it. That's how change comes about, starts with one voice, then slowly and gradually those voices get louder until we get change. It's not an overnight thing.

I'm surprised that a working class man such as yourself has such a negative view on peoples right to protest. The Tory shiteheads who you regularly lambast on here, are trying to take that right away from us. Can't you see that? You may not agree with the Just Stop Oil crowd, but you should support their right to protest nevertheless.

Its not so much the protests, its the hypocrisy of companies, that riles me:lol:

And obviously Governments Hypocrisy which is all for their own greed which is always their main focus

Anyway, its back to the cricket

People are getting older Bryn. The pattern appears to be that as people get older they cling to the ideals of their youth, so as the world becomes more educated and inclusive it makes older people look more conservative and narrow minded. I don’t think the process is necessarily exclusive to people in their 60’s but it does appear to affect a good few.

I cling to common sense, surely you must agree that it's all climate fearmongering? Just take a look at the video from good morning britain where the presenter claims that it's the hottest it's been for 125,000 years, surely that should alert peoples in built BS detector to be activated..

They do the same every year, a few days of nice weather, and start with the climate fearmongering..

They cherry pick a few statistics, and the gullible fall for it every time, it's ridiculous.

And the even more gullible ignore it because it makes them feel safe and gives them a false sense of superiority. There's always someone on the internet who'll tell you what you want to hear and make you feel special, above all the 'sheep'.

I haven't watched the GMB video you're banging on about, but it doesn't take a lot of searching to find out what they're basing it on:

Well if they are basing it on that, I think it only emphasises my point regarding fearmongering without any real actual evidence.

I look at the headline of the article. Earth is at its hottest in thousands of years. Here’s how we know., hmm but then when you read it, it's all gueswork, Iv'e copied this extract from the bottom of the article.

It’s possible that, even though average temperatures were probably similar to current conditions, day-to-day extremes could have been greater because the planet was so much closer to the sun during the Northern Hemisphere summer, Thorne said. That makes some paleoclimatologists reluctant to say for sure that this week produced the hottest single days in more than 100,000 years.

That conclusion is “certainly plausible,” said Michael Mann, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania known as a pioneer in studying historical climate data. But technically, without 120,000 years of daily temperature data, it becomes “a plausibility argument, rather than a definitive statement,” Mann wrote in an email.

So my conclusion after reading the article, they have not got a clue what they are talking about, they are making an educated guess, yet the tv media, are running the story as fact, when it's clear as day, it is not.

The planet is f**ked but heaven forbid sport gets interrupted for 5 minutes

Our great grandchildren (or even children for some) are going to suffer tremendously in their daily lives, but some confetti at Wimbledon is the problem.

At the time, plenty were annoyed when Emily Davison threw herself under the King's horse.

Its perspective really.

You go mad when people present it as fact (the GMB clip) and now don't like that professionals looking at data from 125,000 years ago are unwilling to state they're definitely right. NJ's post from earlier in this thread about the point of having a mind seems appropriate at this point.

'Are unwilling to state they're definitely right'

That's a really odd way to look at things, they are not unwilling, they just can't say, because it's all speculation by them It literally tells you that in the article, yet GMB present it as the truth.

It's ludicrous.

With all due respect JS, it works both ways. If folk are happy to go with narrative, that's fine, however, history shows that governments lie, just a bit, mind.
Its probably more difficult to make a judgement call these days as there are so many 'experts'.
It's my belief that whatever we do from here on in, we will end up making a right royal mess of it.

You’ve just cherry picked some lightweight tabloid ‘journalism’ to make your case that climate change doesn’t exist you bewt.

This isn't about governments though, unless we're also saying that government officials all over the world are plotting with world renowned scientists to have all our pants down over it.

Eh? I have not! I have called out blatant lies by the media, via that video, and even the article presented to back up the videos, was just speculative nonsense. They said it's the warmest day for 125,000 years, now my BS detector went off at that point.

Sorry for having my own mind, but once my BS detector triggers, I'm normally correct.

You cherry picked that one thing to back your claim that climate change doesn’t exist you headbanger.

I'm sorry you see it that way.. I used that video, to illustrate an untruth. And always think, if something really is true, then why exaggerate, or use false info, surely anything that is true, would not need lies or exaggerations attatched to the subject?

Ahem You Bewt. :D
