Was always going to be hard to keep the level of performance up for the whole season and we were due a dip, fingers crossed its short lived.

I don't care about the loss, the manner of the loss or even the damage to our goal difference. We were due a bad day at the office. The Morris injury has ramped my pessimism right up though

'we are always going to lose a game.' Yes but its the manner of the last two performances and knowing brentford had lost. This was a golden opportunity with all of brentford, bmuff, reading losing and we play like this? To fckin hfield who havent won since December? It is shambolic. Add to the fact our marquee signing is out for the season and front two couldn't hit a barn door it is reasonable to be worried.

That said.. what do we Wednesday? This midfield 3 does not work - grimes and smith with hourihane at 10. Manning for Bidwell who has been horrific for week and Whittaker and Arriola for ayew and lowe now morris if crocked.

How we react to this will determine the rest of the season. Lose our defensive steel and we haven't got enough in attack to maintain our automatic promotion push

I can't believe how much that injury has changed the landscape of the squad; I guess I was wrong to say we had strength in depth. Now we're relying on a jaded Lowe, equally jaded Ayew and a kid in Whittaker. I can't help but feel extremely pessimistic right now, I just hope our squad has more belief than I do

If Lowe gets his mojo back and Ayew decides to stop trying to do everything himself it’s fine. Your analysis is right though. If the team defending which relies on 100% effort from everyone fails, there’s not enough in the team to compensate. Midfield is concerning me. They walked though us in almost all the bits I watched.

Still, you are also right. Wednesday and Saturday will tell us a lot. For my money we simply must find a way to beat those two teams. Coventry will press high and run for 90 minutes, so coming out with today’s attitude will not end well. If we do want promotion though, both these games should be won...Cardiff just did both, easily.

Ok let’s clear this up, is Hourihane a good player yes, has he scored some important goals...yes, has his arrival disrupted the midfield...yes,that’s the conundrum Cooper must resolve, currently we are completely surrendering control of the midfield, can anybody tell me the last time we completely controlled that area.

It’s one of Grimes or Hourihane for me, Smith and Fulton in the middle, that gives us a more solid platform than we currently have, constantly relying on the heroics of the defence will eventually end in tears.

Except scoring our only goal...

Well if you’re happy for him to continually score our only goal that’s fine, unfortunately the opposition has scored four as a result of the midfield being missing in action.

He's been missing in action except for one free kick. It was the same in the week. He's gone from playing practically zero football to 2 games a week, so I wonder if that's starting to show. The goals are welcome of course, especially as Ayew and Lowe have dried up again.

One player blaze, a good player with much promise and I know he's not had much of a chance but he's not set the club on fire so far. The other players still fit need to step up now and show what they ate made of.

Issue with the Midfield is he is playing two centrally and one deep instead of 2 holding and one linking them to the strikers... A no 10 in sense.

Needs to put Hourihane in at 10. We have to play to win rather than not to lose.

As I say, bad day at the office and hope we learn from today.

A bad day at the office, let’s move on.

This is it for me - a day when nothing worked. We have immediate chances to bounce back, the strength of this team will be visible on Wednesday.

We saw what happened to Brentford when they eventually lost one, we must make sure we do not repeat those mistakes.

We are still in pole position to go up.
