Back three has to be
Cabango .... Bennett ..... Guehi
Definitely our best combination. Bennett is calm & experienced and pulls the strings while Ben & Guehi are both strong as oxen and don't get bullied by big target men. Roberts & Bidwell as wingbacks and that's our best back 6. Plenty of options for the other 5 starting places now though so squad depth has improved significantly which will be important for the remaining games coming thick & fast. Good to see Morris, Arriola & Whittaker get game time yesterday albeit against pretty mediocre opposition.

Thats torn it..https://www.efl.com/news/2021/february/january-manager--player-of-the-month-winners/

Never forget 1977. Harry Griffiths won Bells manager of the month for April. Unbeaten in 10, 8 wins. I think we needed 3 points*(citation needed) from two games to confirm promotion( 2 points per win in those days).
After Harry received the award(Giant bottle of bells) , the players lined up in the in the centre circle, and waved to all 4 sides of the ground, which I had never seen them do thus far in my 8 years on the planet. What could go wrong? Arch rival Watford pasted us 4-1 thats what. Although we beat Champs Cambridge away 3-2 the following week, it wasn't enough. I had never known such devastation. The curse is real.

MORGAN WHITTAKER ON HIS MIDWEEK GOAL:

It was amazing to score and I just want to carry it on and hopefully help the team get to where they want to be next season

The ball popped up and I told myself to hit it and luckily, it went in. I'd have loved to celebrate, but I just wanted to get back to halfway and see if we could try and get back into it.

Obviously, the team is the most important thing, but on a personal level getting that first goal for a new club is good for me.

MARC GUEHI | WE'LL BE READY TO GO AGAIN, THAT'S OUR MINDSET

Source: Swansea Official Site

Marc Guehi is confident Swansea City have the mental strength to respond to a rare defeat when they face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Steve Cooper’s side are quickly back in action following Wednesday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, where the Swans produced a battling display as the Premier League leaders created a new record of 15 consecutive wins in all competitions for a club in the English league structure.

There is certainly no shame in losing to a side of the calibre of Pep Guardiola’s Citizens, and it was just Swansea’s sixth defeat from 31 games in all competitions this term.

Which means defender Guehi has every confidence they will respond in the right way when they take on the Owls in South Yorkshire.

“I think it was a good learning curve for the team to come up against some top opposition like Manchester City with a great manager. It was a good opportunity to play against them.

“Obviously, it was a disappointing result, but we can take a lot of positives from it, especially in the resilience we showed and how boys kept running and kept working hard.

“That's the mentality of every single game; not just because of this game, but because of what we want to achieve this season.

“The boys want to improve as players, as individuals and as a team as well. That's the mentality we have as a group; we want to get better, improve each game and hopefully, we can keep taking that into each game.

“We know we’re going to have to be ready again this weekend. We must pick ourselves up and make sure we're ready for a tough game against Sheffield Wednesday.

“We know how they play and how difficult they make the game, but if we come with the right mentality and are in the right state of mind then I think it will be a good game for us.”

Yes, massively disappointing. The inevitable drop in the table will only affect the players psychologically if they let it. Didn't affect Brentford, so Cooper needs to point that.

But to be fair to the Sheffield Wednesday management, who would ever have expected it to be cold in February? Never saw that coming.

(And in other news, I just had my Covid jab today here in London. Theoretically my age group shouldn't have been vaccinated until March or April but my lovely NHS nurse said that they are well ahead of schedule. Didn't offer me any tea or biscuits though. :( )

The Sheffield Wednesday fans are furious about this: https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/298052-swansea-game-called-off/page/7/#comments

For example:" I am not sure whether I would prefer to look miserly and incompetent, or cynical and dishonest." ... "I reckon we can do both."

Sheffield Wednesday postponement catches out travelling Swansea City staff

Source: Yorkshire Live

Sheffield Wednesday's weekend Championship fixture with high-flying Swansea City has been postponed following a pitch inspection at Hillsborough.

The Owls' 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday night was played out in wintry conditions and a decision has been made to call off tomorrow afternoon's clash with Steve Cooper's side.

The playing surface was frozen after the inspection of the turf on Friday morning, with more sub-zero temperatures expected overnight ahead of the scheduled 3pm kick-off tomorrow.

And our colleagues at Wales Online have reported how some members of the Swans backroom staff were already en route to Sheffield when the news was delivered on the postponement.

Swansea City reporter Ian Mitchelmore said: "Some members of Swansea's backroom team were already en route to Sheffield when the game was postponed, but the players and coaching staff remain in south Wales. They were due to fly up north this afternoon."

A statement from Wednesday read: "The Owls’ Championship home game against Swansea has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

"A pitch inspection at Hillsborough was conducted on Friday and the surface deemed unplayable.

"The fixture will be rearranged with details announced in due course."

Swansea City’s Championship fixture at Sheffield Wednesday has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 13 at 6pm.

The game was originally due to take place on February 13, but was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Hillsborough.

However, it has now been allocated a new date and will take place in the midweek between the away game at Millwall and the home clash with Wycombe.

Welcome to the updated matchday thread 😂

Can we build on today's excellent win?

Play like we did today and all three points will most definitely go to us
