So it appears that there could be a battle of players v Duff?

Duff needs to adapt to the situation as there will only be one winner in that fight and I know what type of football the fans will want.

I certainly echo that the guy needs patience but going on recent history coupled with an unrealistic expectation........i already sense the feeling of deja Vue and I don't have the energy to try and put the logical and more realistic expectations on the table.

Did he really say that?
He has to be careful here, he is walking a tight line even at this early stage, I am not talking losing his job but the atmosphere can change quickly especially if performances don't come quick.

The feel isnt sitting right here at the moment for me despite a good summer transfer window.

Yes, he did.

I believe the video is on another thread on here, posted earlier. Have a look. It's only about a minute in, if that.

We can only wait and see, but I’m starting to see why the players might be a little bit confused. What exactly is the strategic, never mind the tactical, gameplan?

Your guess is as good as mine because for 75mins I couldn't work out what the plan was.
Defending corners and set pieces with no outlet up the pitch was baffling.
We seem to be better at set pieces.......attacking ones that is.

Take your word on it but that's not good at all.
Reading that he said the defeat was not down to formation either 🙈
Midfield overrun, over stocked at the back and getting split and opened up in the back 3 when we are being counter attacked.

Seems to a bit of a stand off with players and Duff.

We need to get more width and pace otherwise we are easily tucked up. Patino looks like he will make a difference and the newcomers hopefully will add something. As for the gameplan it was basic to say the least and should have been changed as you say earlier.Darling is way out of his comfort zone at RB and a back four would have been a better option imo.

Some one left a comment on the YouTube video introducing him and said he was glad patino was here but he'd have to play third string,I was like WTF

Just got back from the Hawthorns and the scoreline flattered the performance - we were absolute dog shyte, make no bones about it. 70 minutes of complete ineptitude.

Three at the back doesn’t work as none of them can play the ball out, let alone defend.

Grimes spent most of the game in the sweeper position, Fulton had his back to goal for most of the game.

Three at the back and two defensive midfielders in Grimes and Fulton just isn’t doing it.

Harrison Ashby - didn’t break a sweat.

We will never escape Russball with Grimes at the helm.

If you think that was Russball you watched a totally different game to me.

BTW, Russball beat WBA twice last season ... and the season before? (not sure)

Think it's too early yet to talk about stand offs or rifts, but I think we are going to have to allow for a slightly longer bedding-in period than we might have all imagined at first.

New coach, new ideas, lots of new players, lots of existing players - it has the potential to go wrong, equally it has potential to really catch fire at some point. It's too early to tell but we should know where we are by end of October.

You obviously weren’t at the game.

I wasn't, but I had a good view.

Willing to listen though. What was particularly Russball about today's performance?

Just got back, and gotta say that was a complete and utter shambles. Worse still, the amount of people claiming a great comeback and played well last 20 mins ...need certifying. That first 65/70 minutes was as bad as I can remember. Made them look like Barca ffs.

Thought as much, armchair supporter. Plastic.

It's true, I don't attend these days for various reasons. My first game was 1966. Yours?

Anyway, what was Russball about today's performance?

Far more a total study in what not to than anything else. Unless Duff sees that, the next few weeks are going to be bloody painful.
