I really hope Duff doesn’t try to pretend that was ok, just because of the scoreline.

Too little, too late. A Russ trait.

   So, we went 4 at the back and put an extra player in midfield. Who on earth would have though that would have made such a difference?

You’re going to have to get some pills for your allergy.

We learned we are good lobbing balls in the box chasing a game the last 10 minutes. Nothing else for the other 80 tho

+ Patino looked decent and we have 2 defenders inbound

But no more pandying to these performances. That was shocking, please no RM style plaudits, they need a rocket up them. Particularly our 3 brain dead CB's

Oh I don’t think he should call out any players or blame them, he should call out himself. That was rank bad management until much too late.

We need to make it just 2 centre halves with 2 full backs........a 3 makes us too open.

Appreciate tactics could be better but those goals were down to players individual/collective responsibility

3 headers unopposed dropping to an unmarked CB in our box

Not a good day today, but way too early to judge, or draw firm conclusions yet.

I'm looking forward to a few more incomings, and the window closing so we know what we have, we can settle things down, and Duff can start to put his stamp on it.

By 1 November we'll know whether today was a harbinger of problems to come, or just teething troubles.

Onto the next.

The worrying thing was the lack of urgency to try to change anything when the gameplan clearly wasn't working. First subs made dead on 60 minutes, just like Martin used to do. You would hope a new manager trying to figure things out would show a bit more inventiveness and bravery in making changes to pull the game more in our favour.

We’re still shambolic defending set pieces… but at least we look a threat from set pieces for once.

We need to get more width and pace otherwise we are easily tucked up. Patino looks like he will make a difference and the newcomers hopefully will add something. As for the gameplan it was basic to say the least and should have been changed as you say earlier.Darling is way out of his comfort zone at RB and a back four would have been a better option imo.
