Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City 3 Blackburn Rovers 0 | Att: 13,788 | The EFL Championship

Trying not to get carried away.
The difference in play was night and day.
VIP had a good game and was a bit lucky with his goal and missed a couple of sitters but the rest of his play was very good.
Franco was a terrier and linked up so well with O brien who is clearly a top Championship lower Premier player and a massive improvement on the guy that went to Coventry.
The effort from the players was so much better.
Sheehan managed the game by not taking players off for the sake of it as the were so hungry for the win.
I thought he brought on Fulton to knock out their captain who was losing it at the end ;)
Well done the Swans.
A much happier end to a Saturday.

Really good game and we've not had one of them for a long time. A couple more wins now and then we can be safe over summer. Then we can bring in a load of players that we can't use properly or are just naff, send them out on loan, and then fight relegation all over again whilst management and the trust gaslight us. Uppa the Swans ❤.

If nothing else today seems to confirm that our biggest problem this season was not and never has been the squad. It's also strong evidence to support the idea that we're going to be just fine without Matt Grimes.

Must admit I was a little concerned when Vig tipped that header over early on but after that we grew into the game with confidence, pace and aggression, never letting them settle on the ball and working hard for each other. The tempo of passing and movement was also a massive upgrade on much of what we've seen before.

Who would have thought that just letting players play instead of chaining them into unnecessarily complex and tedious systems would pay dividends?

Great result. Lot of breathing space now and we should be fine.

Miles prefer 4 at the back - always was my biggest bugbear with Martin and then Williams.

O’Brien and Franco had great games which made all the difference. And you could see the players were really motivated to stop the rot. Special mention as well for Peart Harris who had his best game for us by a mile.

Hopefully we see this as an opportunity to get the right person in rather than being hamstrung by the threat of relegation. And we can then take a proper look at the squad over the summer.
Staying up is the only goal this season.

I honestly think Grimes became a troublemaker and was nothing bar stat padding ego by the end of it and RM & LW only inflated this ego by refusing to drop him. Yes we had lower possession today, but we won by 3 instead of losing by 2 or 3?

A win at Preston and I think that's safety just about secured. But worth noting we lost 7 out of 10 games and we're still above Hereford's greatest rivals (lol).

Blimey. Maximum effort, energy and intensity. Where did that come from?

Long may it continue. I know we scored 3 goals, but for me the most obvious difference was our work rate and desire off the ball. We looked like a unit again. We didn’t give Blackburn a sniff.

Nah, most of them are still junk. Let's see what happens over the next few games before we start giving them the benefit. They've flaked before, no doubt they'll flake again. It was a lot better though, it was obvious they'd stopped playing for Williams and they had a point to prove.

Agree on the Grimes bit - but then I thought that the minute I clapped eyes on O'Brien.

Trying to work out how the official attendance today was given as 13,788. 👀
They include total season tickets. It’s tickets sold rather than attendance. There were obviously a large number of season ticket holders that stayed at home to watch Wales lose at rugby again…
