Only watched second half. Positives were us looking forward for passes instead of back or sideways. Carried on from the other night which was good to see.

Negatives were we looked a little short on actually creating anything very much. A lack of quality where it mattered and seemed a bit shapeless when Allen went off.

I’d rather watch us like this though than the negative stuff we were serving up. Much prefer 4 at the back. Could do with more pace up front though and someone who can beat a player out wide (the one time Congreve did so it created our best second half chance).

1st half was more positive from us; really we should have brought it level before half time as we had enough chances. 2nd was almost a different game. Burnley didn’t have that press nor anywhere near as much possession in the 1st half.

I thought that was the case from reading reports. They had a very high and quick press for much of the second half. Good team.

Just got home - traffic was good in both directions which made a nice change. Was thinking about a few things from the game during my journey.

Decent performance overall I thought, and nothing wrong with carrying on from the positive approach used against Watford but we were up against a much better side this time but we still gave it a go. I feel we will win more games than we lose playing like this and I'm a lot happier watching it. It still rankles with me that we lost to a poor Reading side only 6 days ago when if we'd played anywhere near how we did in the 2 games since, I'm sure we'd have won comfortably. Did we deserve to lose today? probably not overall given the chances we created, but both of their goals came from our errors so from that point of view, perhaps we we did because you can't keep making individual errors like that and expect to get anything out of a game. I thought our trio of Allen, Fulton and Cooper gave us so much momentum by their willingness to tackle anything that moved and Burnley struggled to get much of a foothold in midfield and had to attack down the flanks - I don't know, maybe that's how they play every game anyway but they didn't have much choice today. However, Martin subbed all 3 of them and we were never going to maintain that solidity in midfield after that so it was relatively easy for Burnley to retain more possession and see out the remainder of the game. Interesting that we pushed Cabango up front for the last 7 or 8 and played it long looking for knock downs, don't recall seeing us do that before under RM.

Harry Darling would have been a far better option than Ben up front for those closing minutes.

Problem is it took us an age to get the ball into their half, we wasted so much time with pointless sideways/backwards passing with minutes left to play

My thoughts too. Once Allen, Fulton and Cooper went there was no bite in midfield and Burnley coped easily in the latter stages. Best game for Joe since his return. Very good to meet you today, catch you when you’re down next.

This time though it was because Burnley just stopped us rather than deliberate Martincrap. At least from what I could see. We struggled to see a way out because Ntcham and Cundle were not doing what Allen and Fulton did. Sorinola was pointless of course.

Indeed. It's a shame that we don't have more options on the bench to try and put the opposition under pressure when chasing a game.

It would be great if we had a reasonably quick striker who may give them something else to think about as opposed to a lethargic Piroe, or an exciting young winger who at least has the potential of scaring defenders, but I guess we just don't have those kind of players in the squad...

Obafemi would have been ideal, if he hadn’t been such a t**t recently.
Shows we have no strength in dept, when you have to bring Sorrynola on.
He really is a lightweight in almost every aspect, whenever he’s on the pitch.
Once our 3 midfield players went off,Burnley saw out the 2nd half easily.
I do like Congreve, he looks a good prospect.
I wonder why he was dropped so quickly the last time around?
