Does anyone know if Bennett was injured to come off or was it a tactical change?

If it was tactical it was in hindsight, obviously wrong, naughton should have been hooked.

STEVE COOPER | WE DID NOT DO THE BASICS

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper said Swansea City paid the price for not doing the basics as they fell to a 4-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town.

The sides were level at the break at the John Smith’s Stadium after Conor Hourihane’s free-kick cancelled out Fraizer Campbell’s opener.

But Lewis O’Brien netted in the 48th minute to restore the home side’s lead, with Duane Holmes adding a quickfire brace before the 55-minute mark had been reached.

And matters only got worse for the Swans when Jordan Morris – on as a half-time substitute – was stretchered off after landing awkwardly controlling a lofted pass.

“It was a tough and disappointing afternoon, and we only have ourselves to blame,” said Cooper.

“We were off with the basics today, both with and without the ball, and in the end if you don’t do those it can cost you. That’s what happened.

“The goals we conceded were good finishes, but the areas they got into were things we had worked on to try and prevent.

“We knew it was coming, so that is disappointing.

“The way we started the second half meant the changes we made did not have the impact we desired, and the game was quickly out of sight.

“It was uncharacteristic of us, but if you don’t do the basics you run the risk of what happened. It’s not a complicated one to work out.”

Look, disappointing performance doesn't even go close, we weren't at the races today, but 7 minutes of absolute madness cost us dearly.

If you had asked me at half time, after CH had equalised, I'd have probably wagered my left testicle we would have nabbed all three points.

Give Huddersfield credit, they throughly deserved that win today.

Wishing Jordan Morris a speedy recovery and we move on to Wednesday and looking for a big muthafùcker reaction 💪

Bois Bach Swansea City FC mun!

Of course it's annoying to not bring anything away from a team in the position of Huddersfield, but to end up on the wrong end of 4 goals shows Cooper needs to dwell on a few matters, covered really well in Badland's excellent post.

I disagree with him in that we have played some great stuff this season, but Cooper remains stubborn in his tactics, and seems very slow to change them. Yes, we have come back to win some games, but everyone saw how badly they played on Wednesday. We were extremely Jammy to win it, and he puts out the SAME team????!???

COOPER | WE'VE GOT OUR FINGERS CROSSED FOR JORDAN

Source: Swansea Official Site

Steve Cooper says everyone at Swansea City has their fingers crossed for Jordan Morris, but admitted the injury the forward suffered at Huddersfield did not look good.

The United States international was introduced as a half-time substitute at the John Smith’s Stadium, but was stretchered off after landing awkwardly just before the hour mark.

The 26-year-old – who joined the Swans on loan from Seattle Sounders in January – required lengthy treatment before being taken off.

And, while it is too early to know the extent of the injury, Cooper acknowledged that the sight of a player going down with no defenders around him is not usually a good one.

“It does not look good, does it? I don’t know the extent of it but we have our fingers crossed for him,” he said.

“We will know more in the days to come, but it did not look a good one, that’s for sure.

“He will travel back with us, he is currently in a knee brace and on crutches.

“We will get the best attention to him as soon as possible.”

"Benno was forced. He's feeling his calf so we had to do that one. Jamal [Lowe] was tactical, with Jordan we felt like we need a bit of fresh impetus in a certain area" - more from Cooper

If people keep trotting out this bad day at the office bollocks - it’s not an office, and it’s hackneyed received ubiquitous wankery trotted out all the time without thought (no offence to anyone...at the end of the day..I’m prone to it too) and all it means is they WON’T learn, they will just ‘move on’. They already didn’t learn from Wednesday, so my bet is if Cooper also trots out this office garbage, we’ll see the same tripe again on Wednesday. He really needs to get into them now, really get into them.

Oh get a grip ffs! We lost, get over it, we might lose again on Wednesday too.

Some are never fùckin happy.

Cooper OUT.

You happy now 👍

Now I’ve read what he’s said I’m a bit more encouraged, at least there’s no office crap, but it’s so descriptive. WHY didn’t they do the basics Steve? Why does no one ask these things? Did they all decide not to? Why? Did you motivate them or blow smoke up their arses after a lucky win? Why did you pick a team that largely failed and could easily have lost by three on Wednesday again? Why after making changes are we even more wide open. Did the new players also not do the basics? Why?

Yes, always happy to be 4th in the Championship with a good shout at going up automatically mate, could be worse, we could have lost 3 on the trott... get my drift 👍

It’s true overall that I’m only so disappointed as I expected this to happen at QPR, Rotherham or Barnsley...so when it didn’t I thought we had the measure of these dog teams at the bottom (I know unfair on QPR and Barns now). So I’m not disappointed with losing at all; I’m disappointed to lose to them, playing like that. I know, it happens, but that’s why I’m saying he needs to get into them and, as dr W rightly said, stop sending the message that his favourites are untouchable.

Oh and keep playing like the last two games and we’ll likely lose more than three on the trot.👍

You can't fault 5 defeats in 29 games. Cooper rarely changes a winning team unless he has to until a defeat. In fairness it's worked so far as the result is always more important than performance. What changes will he make against Coventry?
