Not forgetting the fact that players who don’t stick to his system invariably find themselves frozen out. A different manager could get a better tune out of this squad.

This completely.
Its like RM doesn't like players with pace.
Ogbeta, OkoFlex, Whittaker, Joseph to name just a few casualties of his policy.

It’s his system and selection that is making us so dreadful.

He needs to take all the responsibility.

Cooper should have put us one up, Benda should have done better, Piroe should have tapped it in and Fulton is a liability, obviously the managers fault.

I could get a better tune out of this squad

Let’s have some balance FFS, yes the manager needs to take some responsibility but so do the players as well, some absolutely shite performances from some of them.

Indeed they put in continually shit performances

None of it is the managers fault.

MARTIN OUT

There'll be a few under the bus again later.

But yes, this is a half decent squad which he is failing to get performing.

Anyone with any pace or who provides any width is left out.

Plus the formation is just wrong.

Top left of my telebox says different 👍

You can keep defending him all you like but the evidence over 70 games is pretty clear

We make the same mistakes, try and defend the same mistakes and keep putting in poor performances

Buck stops with the manager

Problem is that you can put a few results down to chance and dumb luck, but when coincidence keeps happening it becomes a trend and becomes predictable.

Our shots per minute in possession is one of the worst in the league

Please go ahead and list all the player mistakes that contributed to poor results in Martin's previous 70ish games in charge.

You're making the mistake of trying to argue it's all about tonight's performance. It's not. It's a pattern that keeps repeating.

Even if it was the players' fault and not the manager's, you can't sack the whole squad. Not when you have a budget like we do anyway. So it's the manager who pays the price for not doing better with the players at his disposal. It should happen sooner when the players bought by the manager have mainly been shit.

Of course it’s his fault.

He picks the wrong team, the wrong formation and God knows what we do at the back.

As Clasey said above, having to score at least two or three every single match to get any points is a joke. We have a team of championship players, some above average, some average, some below average. We are always going to miss chances, or have errors because we aren’t at a level to do anything else. The key is playing a system that means they don’t matter quite as much.

Piroe has been awful for most of the season. So drop him. Just as an example. Made harder of course by the fact that we seem to have totally messed up the situation with Obafemi. And loaned out others that could have had a go. The back line doesn’t work. So change it. Change the system. Have an out on the wing, or once up front. Not try to play in a way where there is no margin for error.

Martin's prime objective : Maximise Possession %

He sets up to achieve that objective. Hence the stodgy middle and WBs who always cut-back inside - to Retain possession.

When that doesn't work - he chucks on our attacking, pacey players to salvage some points, having secured his prime objective.

Martinball for Martinball's CV. At all costs, esp 'not proper club' like The Swans.
